occasional rain

この時期の雨はめずらしいそうですが、昨日も今日も雨が降りました。明日からいよいよ授業が始まります。約４か月ぶりの仕事なので、緊張します。今日の写真は私の家の向かいの家で飼われているワンちゃん。目がくりくりしていて、とてもかわいいです。

It rained today and yesterday. The street in front of my apartment is very wet and muddy. After the four months of training, tomorrow I will finally go back to my teaching job! (The dog in the photo is cute, isn't he?)

sabjee pasta

インスタントのパスタに買ってきたインゲン、ニンジン、おまけにもらった葉っぱ（多分、パクチー）を入れました。今度こそトマトソースかと思いきや、やはりカレー風味でした。変な組み合わせですが、紅茶と一緒に。
I thought this instant pasta came with a tomato based sauce but again it tasted like curry. I added beans, carrots, and some kind of leaves (I believe this is coriander). My chai isn't still that good; I need more practice...

try not to be starved

いよいよ明日から仕事が始まります。授業は木曜日からです。今日は牛乳、コーンフレーク、パン、チーズなどを買ってきました。牛乳は袋に入っているものを買って、家で一度沸騰させてから使います。１リットル、約５０円。

I went shopping for daily necessities. Got some milk, a box of cereals, bread, and cheese. Bread and milk are cheap, but cereals and cheese are quite expensive, comparing to other things. Certain things are reasonably priced, but some other things are surprisingly pricy in Delhi...(500ml of milk is only 20 cents, but a box of cereals is more than 3 bucks, which I feel is a bit overpriced.)

今日はアパートの周辺をさらに散策しました。インターネットの接続をしてくれる人を偶然（？）見つけ、さっそくつなげてもらいました。まだ家にはテーブルや椅子がありません。本棚もいいのを見つけて、購入したいです。

I moved in the new apartment yesterday, and today I walked around the apartment and found these kitties. I wish I could pet them, but as you know, touching wild animals here is a no-no. In this evening, a cable guy came to the house and put an internet wire in the house, so I am fully connected to the world!!

Happy Tibetan!

All the voluteers who are now in India have gathered in Delhi, and we had a great dinner at a tibetan restaurant in Tibetan Colony. This is a must-go place in Delhi.

今日はインド全土のボランティアがデリーに集まる隊員総会がありました。夜は、地下鉄でチベットコロニー（チベット人が住んでいる）ところで、美味しいチベット料理（ほぼ中華料理）を食べました。そして、先輩の皆さんから色々な話が聞けて、とても楽しかったです。

昨日、新しいアパートで一晩過ごしました。ペンキ塗りたてで、においが少々気になりますが、トイレもシャワーもちゃんと使えるので快適です。まだ、これからテーブル、椅子、などなどを入れてもらう予定です。シーツとブランケットは自分で買いました。（今日明日はホテルで宿泊します。）

I spent my first night at the new apartment last night. It has a newly-painted smell, but I am happy with the place so far. Toilet and shower work okay. Still a lot of work need to be done, though...

good time with my host family

先週の日曜日から１週間、ホームステイをしていました。ご主人が大学の先生で、奥さんが小学校の先生のご家庭にお邪魔しました。料理をちょっと習ったり、一緒にテレビを見たり、リラックスして１週間過ごすことができたので、本当によかったです。感謝の気持ちを込めて、お花をプレゼントしました。（お花屋さんで花を選び、プレゼント用にしてもらいました。約１００円。）

I had a great time with my host family. No hesitation and no hustle at all, because they'd had so many volunteers before me. During the stay, I had a chance to learn a bit about Indian cooking, and now I am looking forward to making it for myself in my apartment. I've given this bouquet of flowers for the mother.
